REPRESENTATIONAL WORK

I am fascinated by how we recollect our own memories that are often a combination of fact and fiction. As part of my exploration of memory, I often juxtapose semi-realistic figures or objects against abstract backgrounds, blurring the distinction between reality and abstraction. Stylistically both my abstract and representational work employs flat patches of color, simplified drawing, and bold contour. I feel a deep connection to painters, (particularly Pierre Bonnard) in Les Nabis, a group of post-impressionist French painters who were active from 1888 to 1900.
